A lightsaber. I do notice that the O-Rings are a little loose, the red button is a bit high and the back three grooves aren't cut deep enough. C&C welcome. Rendered in Bryce, post work in GIMP.
To make, it only took me around an hour, maybe a little less. It wasn't too hard, just a bunch of cylinders and negatives. It's only my second render that is something other than an abstract.
i don't like the background destroys all. the black elemenst in lightsabers are made out of ruber so they don't make such highlights but i can't say a bad word about the silver. But definitly needs some more work into this one
Yeah, the background got screwed up during rendering. It was a less intense blue with water, but something got screwed up. The pommel and covertec clip are made out of a black oxidized metal hence the reflection. And the O-Rings are a greased rubber, that's why I put the gleam on them. I know the metal textures really suck, I'm trying to find out how to make a nice one with a little weathering.
i didnt bend them to fit the curvature of the well if thats what you mean. each brick was 6 landscape objects to give it texture. i copied them and formed them into a circle and then made multiple layers of them.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
